The PA AHEC Scholars program is dedicated to developing future healthcare professionals who can foster equity and empower vulnerable populations.
The program is designed around the 7 core topic areas:
Our program is a true, immersive journey. However, a snapshot of what your first year may look like includes:
Program Eligiblilty
AHEC Scholars must have at least 2-years left in their degree program and, ideally, will be scholars for the final stretch of their academic journey.
Currently, the following disciplines are being accepted:
Medical - Dental - Physician Assistant
Pharmacy - Nursing
Psychology (Masters/Doctorate)
Optometry - Social Work (Masters/Doctorate)
Occupational Therapy (Masters/Doctorate)
Public Health (Masters/Doctorate)

Your commitment to serving the rural and underserved populations in Pennsylvania will be highlighted with a resume that includes an additional 2 years of curriculum that supplement your completed degree and experience.
Supplemental Training Experiences
As a Pennsylvania AHEC Scholar you will have the unique opportunity to advance skills needed to serve vulnerable populations, and deep dive into Pennsylvania's diverse culture and communities while exploring the intricacies of health disparities.
Interprofessional Experience
