PA AHEC Training and Education Programs
The PA Training Center for Health Equity is collaborating with a variety of partners to provide training and additional resources to advance health equity across the state.
Community Health Worker Training Program
Community Health Workers (CHWs) provide an essential link between patients and health services, and are a fast-growing part of the health equity solution in Pennsylvania. Each of PA AHEC's seven regional centers provides Community Health Worker (CHW) training that is accredited through the Pennsylvania Certification Board.

Having access to and an understanding of mental health resources is an important part of achieving health equity for all. This training focuses on mental health and substance use challenges, with separate training for dealing with youth and adults. Visit your regional site to see when the next training is available.
The scholars program prepares health professional students for a career serving patients in rural and underserved areas. Students will learn through a combination of community-based experiential and didactic learning throughout their two years in the program.
